Frequently Asked Questions

What food do you feed your dogs?

We feed our puppies Life's Abundance dog food as of 2021. We highly recommend this food for your dog.

Where are your puppies raised?

We have a renovated dog den for our puppies (and kids😉). It is furnished with a couch, tv, kitchen, table, and sink. It is an extension of our house! We sleep out there when the puppies are young, and we are out there throughout the day when we have puppies. This space allows us to have separate areas for feeding, sleeping, training, and puppy culture areas.

Where do your adult dogs live?

Our adult dogs in the breeding program always live with a family unless they are being boarded temporarily in our den. Our dogs that don’t live in our home live in local guardian homes. These dogs have their own loving family, kids, and attention!

We are not comfortable with dogs in a breeding program living their lives in kennels which is why we have chosen to work with guardian families instead.

How does your puppy selection process work? Can we pick our own puppy?

We will choose a date for our "Puppy Selection Day" and let our puppy families know. This date will be around the 6-week age mark. We always want to provide the best puppy for your family. Based on your questionnaire that you have filled out, we can help you pick a puppy. We monitor the puppies daily, and we will provide you with their temperament info, coloring, size, and personality information to help in the process. You may come and pick a puppy yourself, or we can do it with pictures and videos.

Can we come to meet the puppies as they grow?

We do allow families to come and meet the puppies, but the puppies' health is our top priority. If you come, you should wear clean clothes, remove your shoes at our door, and wash your hands before handling puppies.

Are you dogs registered?

All of our Golden Retrievers are AKC registered. Our Golden Retrievers puppies will go home with Limited AKC papers only.

What is the price of your puppies?

All of our puppies can be reserved with a $500 deposit. Our puppies range from $2000-$2500 depending on the litter. Occasionally we sell breeding rights to approved breeders for an additional price.

Where are you located?

We are located on a 16-acre farm in Newell, Iowa. We are about 2 hours away from 2 major airports, Des Moines and Omaha.

Do you offer full registration?

To approved breeders, we may sell breeding rights for certain litters. We require all dogs to be fully health tested as well as their partner before breeding. The puppy must be a family dog. We work closely with puppies and their future families to better the breed when selling full registration. If you are not willing to do this or evaluate your program, please reconsider reaching out. We always want the best for our puppies.

How do I go about adopting a puppy? What is your process?

Please fill out a questionnaire and send us an email or Facebook message. After the questionnaire, we will message with you and let you know how to send in a deposit!

Do you fly or ship puppies?

We do not ship puppies. We feel this is better for their health. We can arrange something where we fly the puppy to you, and in that case, the puppies would sit on our laps on the plane.

How do you raise your puppies?

Please read more about Puppy Culture and ENS methods. We use these methods to raise healthy puppies with awesome temperaments! In addition, our puppies are handled by our family every day.

How often will I get updates?

This is such an important time for your family, and we want you to be involved. We add all families to a litter Facebook page where we share updates every week. We have photo shoots every week or so and share these as well. You will get photos and videos describing milestones and temperaments along the way!

What support will I receive after my puppy goes home?

We stay connected with our families forever. We remember each of our past puppy's names and will remember your family! Our Facebook messenger is always open for years down the road for questions. If we don't know the answer, we have many breeder friend resources who might.

Additionally, we add all families into our big FPG family Facebook page after their puppy goes home. In this group you have the resources from all of our past families. There are loads of advice and question posts in here to look through (as well as the fun of seeing all of your puppy's littermates!).
